Although at one time thought to be glassy meteorites, it is now widely agreed that tektites are fragments of fused terrestrial rock or soil which have been propelled over long distances (hundreds to thousands of kilometres) following the impact of a large meteorite or possibly a small comet.
A brownish black button-type australite
